Grand slam. Novak Djokovic, 29, won the French Open, which makes him the first man in half a century to win four consecutive major championships. Sunday’s win was a personal victory as the French Open had been a tough tournament for him. With the win he claimed his career Grand Slam.
Ladies day out. Serena Williams was hoping to tie Steffi Graff’s record of all-time Grand Slam wins in the French Open but Spaniard Garbine Muguruza spoiled the quest, upsetting Williams to win her first major.
NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing)
Monday rush hour. Mother nature delayed the race at Pocono until today at noon (EST) on Fox Sports 1.
NBA (National Basketball Association)
Taking the lead. Golden State Warriors dominated Cleveland Cavaliers at home, winning by 33 points. The teams head to Cleveland for game three on Wednesday at 8 pm (EST) on ABC. Warriors have a 2-0 lead in the series.
NHL (NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE)
S is for Sharks. On Saturday, San Jose Sharks beat Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime. The home win for the Sharks puts the series at 2-1. Game four is tonight at 8 pm (EST) on NBC.
Soccer
Global game. United States lost its first game in the Copa America Centenario to Columbia and will face Costa Rica on Tuesday. Tuesday’s game is being labeled a must win for the U.S.
Overtime
Friday the world lost one of its most iconic sports figures. Muhammed Ali passed away at the age of 74 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease which he was diagnosed with in 1984. Ali was a three-time heavyweight champion of the world and he changed the face of sports with his legendary trash talk and amazing footwork. Tributes have come in from across the globe. Sideline stat
17 days ago Michael Bisping was on set in Canada filming a movie. The 10-year vet had no fight scheduled, but thanks to another’s injury he received an opportunity to step in and fight for the middleweight championship of UFC. Bisping took advantage of the last minute opportunity and knocked out champion Luke Rockhold in the first round, becoming the first ever UFC champion from England.
