Say hello to the Monday motivation you need to chat up your co-workers and dive into the sports conversation.
March Madness Is Living Up to Its Name
On the men's side, history is repeating itself. For only the second time ever (the first was in 2008), all four No. 1 seeds made it to the Final Four—Duke, Auburn, Houston and Florida. And in a fun little twist? The Final Four is back in San Antonio, just like in 2008.
But don’t get too comfortable. Auburn’s star Johni Broome suffered injuries that could make their road to a championship a bit more bumpy. Keep your eyes glued to Saturday.
Women’s March Madness: Ballers and Baby Signings 🏀👶
Let’s talk about the women. South Carolina is back in the Final Four for the fifth straight time. Their coach, Dawn Staley, was so hyped after advancing that she autographed a baby. You read that right. UCLA is in too.
Meanwhile, UConn's Paige Bueckers dropped 40 points to help knock out Oklahoma and send the Huskies closer to glory. UConn will take on a JuJu Watkins-less USC team in the Elite Eight today.
And then there’s Hailey Van Lith, who became the first player to ever reach the Elite 8 with three different schools. But it’s her dad stealing the show—chest-bumping fans and running stairs like he was the one headed to the next round. Today, TCU will play rival Texas for a spot in the Final Four.
NHL History in the Making 🏒
Alex Ovechkin scored his 890th career goal and is now only five goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s NHL (National Hockey League) record. To celebrate, ESPN is giving us the “OviCast”—a dual-screen setup that keeps a camera locked on Ovechkin the whole game while you watch the action unfold.
The Mahomes Family Hits Us in the Feels 🏡
In other news that makes us question what we’re doing with our lives, Patrick Mahomes, Jackson Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes just gifted their mom, Randi Mahomes, a house. After raising an NFL-caliber kid from a young age, she’s more than earned it.
